The issue, problem, or opportunity that caused you to seek coaching :

To provide general leadership coaching. I also had some difficult personalities that I was dealing with. This included my division director as well as a fellow branch chief and people I supervise.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

Suzi was absolutely wonderful! She helped me to have a better and more constructive relationship with my supervisor through "managing up". She helped me to be a more effective leader and to have productive relationships with some of my more "difficult" colleagues. I honestly think that I would not have lasted in my current position without her coaching. The beauty of her coaching is that she made me self sufficient at leadership. After three years of coaching, I honestly feel like I can independently handle most situations.

Additional comments :

Suzi made coaching a truly positive experience for me. To be honest, before working with her, I felt pretty skeptical about professional coaching. Boy, was I wrong. Suzi gave me so much confidence in my ability to lead. I now feel comfortable, not only intellectually (which I felt before coaching), but emotionally. The coaching profession should be proud to have professionals with the integrity and professionalism as Suzi Pomerantz. I strongly recommend her to your society.

No opportunity just continuous improvement as a leader. Job coaches provide exceptional assistance and insight and I love working with coaches when funds will permit.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

I felt greater confidence as a leader and she assisted me in working through a very challenging employee relations issue and navigating the complexities of perserving the relationships of those involved while being firm in the disciplinary action.

Additional comments :

I would say that Suzi is an exceptional job coach. She has tremendous insight and strategies to assist any leader. If I had the chance to work with her again, I would do so in a second and I would recommend her to any leader seeking to work with a coach.

The issue, problem, or opportunity that caused you to seek coaching :

After setting records for number of clients and income a few years ago, I foolishly stopped networking and marketing. Surprise! 6 months later my business declined. I wanted to kick start my marketing (and my business) and I wanted to do it write, so I decided to hire Suzi, based on a colleagues strong recommendation.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

My business began to grow modestly the first year I worked with Suzi, and the pace of growth picked up the next two years.

Additional comments :

She not only knows her stuff when it comes to marketing and networking, she knows how to personalize her coaching techniques to meet the needs of the clients. In my case, for example, it soon became clear that I needed to find ways to re-charge my batteries to get the energy to grow a one-person business and cope with some serious family challenges.

Professional career development, especially around the areas of remote leadership/supervision.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

Suzi has helped me to develop key relationships with individuals to bridge the gap of remote leadership. She has assisted me in the development of my leadership style and strategic application to bring staff together in a more cohesive unit while leading from an offsite location.

Additional comments :

Working with Suzi has been incredibly valuable! She has been a profound influential figure in my professional (and personal) development. She has provided spot-on, neutral, and honest advice, recommendations and insight to challenge my old ways of thinking bringing me to new levels. I have gained more confidence as a leader by implementing her practical strategies and techniques. She is a thought-leader in the industry and offers a wealth of experience. She has helped to uncover areas of warranted improvement, offered strategies for change and as a result I have become a stronger leader. I have found her to be an exceptional coach!

The issue, problem, or opportunity that caused you to seek coaching :

No issue or problem per se, other than that I was fairly new to the organization and my remit, and I was eager to have a coach help me to navigate through the new (to me) culture. Very male-dominated and high-pressure environment.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

As a result of working with Suzi, I began to see the forest for the trees. I had been working insane hours and not feeling like I was accomplishing what I wanted. But with Suzi\'s help I flipped the focus on a few key perspectives, and my work relationships improved, my results were stronger, and I was given more responsibility via a very large expansion in my revenues under management and a new division to lead. Now I work fewer hours, have more job satisfaction, and my results exceed goals on every measure. My performance reviews have been \"exceeded\" too.

Additional comments :

Suzi is very easy to speak with, and she has a string talent at helping someone find their own path towards change and improvement. She understands the interpersonal dynamics of being a driven and smart woman in a male-dominated culture. She has empathy and humor, but never encourages a cop-out.

The issue, problem, or opportunity that caused you to seek coaching :

Transitioning from one Branch to another Branch with extremely high visibility; Managing a Team Lead that competed for the position I was in; learning to communicate up with a management team that was largely ISTJs (opposite my MBTI)

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

As a result of my Executive Coaching experience with Suzi Pomerantz, I was able to secure a new leadership position within another Federal agency. My new position, while it was not a promotion in grade or pay, I assumed additional leadership responsibilities as a 2nd level supervisor. Ms. Pomerantz guided me through my current (at the time) and future career goals to challenge my thought process and where my strengths would be best suited. She gave me the confidence to see I was beyond ready for the next step. While I wasn't necessarily looking for a new position at the time, Suzi encouraged me to stay connected with my peers through the government in order to learn how other Agencies are doing similar work and how to effectively incorporate knowledge sharing across organizations. This is how I found the connection for me new position! Ms. Pomerantz also guided me on how to focus my successes and strengths in oreder to harness my areas for development. In doing so, I have effectively been able to manage difficult situations with performance issues and learned it's ok to ask questions to gather more information before impulsively responding when it's not necessary. I only wish my current organization was offering the availability to hire such an outstanding Executive Coach as Suzi!

Additional comments :

Suzi always asked the right questions of me so I was able to come up with the results oriented solutions. Suzi wasn't afraid to challenge me and/or my thought process when it came to areas I need to develop. No one should want an Executive Coach that tells them what they want to hear.

The issue, problem, or opportunity that caused you to seek coaching :

Had challenges communicating effectively with person with whom I was co-leading a project. Saw organization was offering team coaching and thought that would help with working with this person who was very different from me in several critical ways and co-worker was open to working together with a coach.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

My industry does not have quantitative metrics, such as sales or workload. Working together as part of team coaching helped my co-worker and I better understand each other and ourselves, so that we could work more productively together. We worked together as a team for 2 1/2 years, and I have continued on my own for 3 1/2 years after my colleague experienced a serious health challenge. Suzi has helped me successfully navigate through some very rough patches at work, including the sudden loss of this close team member, transitions to new leadership, and completely new responsibilities for which I had little experience or training. She helped me transition from thinking like a manager to being a leader, and, in particular how to lead "up" from where I am (not top management). She has provided many useful suggestions for how to manage overwhelm and burnout. This has significantly reduced stress and increased effectiveness. Over the past 6 years that I've been working with Suzi, the main project I lead has been highly successful, achieving international notoriety; it has been approved for renewal at $30M+ annual budget. I, along with two colleagues, have received several awards for work on the project I lead, including receiving the highest award in my organization. I have been promoted to Lead Program Director, Genome Analysis, in recognition of my leadership in this area and two years ago was asked to take on co-management of approximately 15 Program Analysts - typically recent college graduates who work across our division for two year.

Additional comments :

Working with Suzi has been a very rewarding experience. As we have been working together for six years, at times I've considered whether I had gotten all that I would from working together, but we continue to identify new areas to explore, as I have faces new obstacles and new opportunities. I have recommended others work with Suzi, and know of one person who is now working with her (in a different organization) and has found the experience very helpful.

Suzi coached and supported me in effectively engaging up and down - with my manager who had a very different style that was sometimes challenging for me to manage, as well as with my staff as I've grown in my role as a leader.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

I have numerous examples of positive results that came from coaching sessions with Suzi. Some of the most significant ones include: effectively negotiating the refining/clarification of my role as Deputy Director, providing more opportunity to lead using my strengths and within my values; supporting a subordinate in addressing conflict with her staff, while also giving her room and the authority to manage the issue; transitioning from my role as Deputy Director to Director; thinking broadly and innovatively about organizational changes I wanted to make - and "leading" me to the decision to include staff in the decisions around the changes. And these are just a few examples of how much Suzi's coaching has helped!

Additional comments :

Suzi is not only EXTREMELY gifted as a coach but she's a great person with an amazing personality. Her positive energy allowed me to quickly connect with her and immediately feel comfortable. Her way of quickly getting to the root of my usually nebulous thoughts and concerns is uncanny. Because her value was evident right away, I quickly developed a trust in the relationship. The tools and methods she has shared - and strategies that she led ME to identify have been extremely effectively. I know Suzi is very credentialed in her field - which is great - but I certainly feel that she has a great deal of natural ability that can't be taught.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

Worked through multiple attempts to build a relationship with peer. Although it did not work, it became apparent that the issue was with the peer (who eventually was let go) and not me. CEO accepted me as an advisor outside of Legal, seeking my advice in coaching his team and in providing advice for ongoing strategic initiatives.

Additional comments :

As my needs shifted from relationship building, to working with my CEO and then working with an interim CEO and new CEO, Suzi helped me think outside of the box in making the necessary adjustments to these very different individuals. With Suzi\'s suggestions, development of a relationship with my new CEO continues.

There are thousands of members nationwide

The issue, problem, or opportunity that caused you to seek coaching :

The primary focus of our work together was to help me prepare for (and transition into) my role as President of NAWL, particularly focusing on leadership and communication strategies that align with my personal style, vision, and the legacy I wanted like to create so that I would be poised to maximize my impact on the organization, including how to create team and motivate people on a volunteer board, and how to focus efforts with members.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

Without question, Suzi coached me to achieve results. She helped me understand context, reviewed my draft communications to align my communications with the vision I wanted to create and enabled me to harness the talents, skills, knowledge, and interests of each Board member, helping motivate and empower them to take action on NAWL's behalf.

Additional comments :

I can recommend Suzi without qualification and have done so. The new general counsel of a public corporation who had very different needs was similarly completely pleased with the executive coaching Suzi provided. I found Suzi to be articulate, clear, practical, creative, warm, accessible, and available. I missed her after our work together.

Advice on transitioning into a new leadership role and leading a new team.

The specific, measurable results and benefits you received as a result of the coaching :

Suzi coached me through a very challenging situation. She assisted me in transitioning into a new role while also trying to change how the role was perceived. We worked to seek to demonstrate the value of the role and to identify for senior leaders the ways in which I could add value and contribute to the goals of the organization. She helped to identify obstacles to achieving my objective as well as identifying opportunities to align myself with allies to champion me. She also coached me extensively on how to work productively with those in the organization that were roadblocks and obstacles. Suzi helped me to see how my messages could better resonate with leaders in my organization so that they would be more likely to assist and support me. Suzi helped me to stay positive by constantly seeking positive outcomes in situations that seemed to have little promise. We were successful in removing barriers to my success. Suzi helped me to focus on actions that would have significant impact on my situations - for instance, Suzi prepared me for critical conversations with my immediate boss and others. We planned a strategic approach to these conversations and planned structured follow up to these conversations. She also taught me the value of, and the process involved in, identifying the goals of my supervisor and finding ways to align my objectives along with theirs in a strategic manner that had the result of enhancing my profile at the company while also enhancing the perceived value of my position.

Additional comments :

Suzi is an extremely positive coach and person. I felt that she was very engaged and invested in my success and happiness. I felt Suzi had a great sense of integrity and I was able to trust her which is critical for the coaching relationship. I had a completely open and honest relationship, I held nothing back and she kept all of my opinions and thoughts confidential. Based on our open relationship, she was able to not only in the context of my position within the company, she was able to coach me to the betterment of my life and career as well. I felt she always had my best interests at heart. My company paid for Suzi to be my coach which in some cases may appear to a conflict of interest, however, based on her honesty and integrity, I was able to trust her as my advisor and someone that would not compromise me by inappropriately sharing information that I had given her in confidence.
